Established 1974 — Kitgum, Northern Uganda
Giulio Pastore Pre-Primary & Primary School — a Catholic institution rooted in faith, dedicated to nurturing every child's full potential since 1974.
Giulio Pastore Pre-Primary & Primary School is a Catholic educational institution established in 1974 under the Archdiocese of Gulu, Christ the King Parish, Kitgum, Uganda. Fully registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports under registration number PPS/G/26, we are a private, inclusive school serving learners from Baby Class through Primary Seven.
Our school is named in memory of Giulio Pastore (1902–1969) — an Italian Catholic leader, journalist and statesman whose life was devoted to social justice, workers' rights and Christian values. His best friend, Giulio Androtti, then Prime Minister of Italy, was our first donor, dedicating the school as a living tribute to Giulio Pastore's legacy of nurturing future generations through love, honesty, trust, passion, excellence and accountability.
From a vision in a parish to a thriving school community — every chapter of our story has been written by the faith, resilience and dedication of the Giulio Pastore family.
School founded under the Archdiocese of Gulu, Christ the King Parish, Kitgum — named in honour of Italian Catholic statesman Giulio Pastore.
School administration passes into the hands of indigenous Ugandan educators, marking a milestone in local ownership of quality Catholic education.
The local administration expands the school into a fully-fledged private primary school, broadening access to children across Kitgum Municipality.
Officially licensed by MoES (Licence ME/P/700, March 1999) and registered (Number PPS/G/76, March 2000), with UNEB Centre Number 004340 for national examinations.
The school faces management challenges and temporarily closes — a painful but formative chapter that strengthened the community's resolve to rebuild.
Re-established with renewed vision, governance and community support — the school begins its journey back, guided by the Education Act 2008 and a School Management Committee.

Giulio Pastore celebrates 50 years of service — hosting the Golden Jubilee Celebration and continuing its mission of holistic, faith-filled education for all.
Two commitments that anchor everything we do — our promise to each child today, and our aspiration for who they will become tomorrow.
Giulio Pastore Pre-Primary & Primary School is committed to providing quality education rooted in Catholic values — fostering a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes spiritual growth, academic achievement and community engagement for every child in our care.
A leading Catholic pre-primary and primary school in Northern Uganda — nurturing holistic development, academic excellence and moral integrity in children, and empowering them to become responsible, compassionate members of society and faithful servants of God.
These five values are not just words on a wall — they are commitments made by every member of the Giulio Pastore community: SMC, PTA, staff, parents and pupils alike.
Core values are embedded in all appointment letters and codes of conduct. Anyone unwilling to uphold them will be excused for the betterment of the school.
"God is Love" (1 John 4:8). Love is the foundation of Christian life and the first fruit of the Holy Spirit. At Giulio Pastore, love guides how we teach, relate and nurture every child — ensuring each one grows in a caring, supportive environment.
Honesty is the bedrock of trust between staff, pupils, parents and the wider community. An honest person reflects the image of God who is Truth itself — and we form children who are trustworthy citizens and faithful Christians.
Trust builds confidence in relationships and fosters collaboration. Within our school it means believing in one another's reliability — and trusting in God who directs all our work and mission.
Accountability means owning our actions and duties with diligence. Leaders, teachers, parents and pupils are accountable before God and each other — ensuring transparency and faithful stewardship of all resources entrusted to us.
Education is not merely a duty — it is a vocation. Passion inspires zeal and enthusiasm. Excellence ensures that in every lesson, every service and every act of leadership, we give our very best for the glory of God.
These values are lived, not just declared. Every day, our community strives to be worthy of the trust placed in us by families across Kitgum.
Giulio Pastore Pre-Primary & Primary School believes that every child is unique — and our approach to education reflects this deeply held conviction.
Every child learns at their own pace. We identify each pupil's strengths and tailor our support to help them thrive — no child is left behind.
We go beyond rote memorisation — encouraging curiosity, problem-solving and creative expression across every subject and age group.
Mind, body and soul — we nurture every dimension of each child through academics, sports, arts, spiritual formation and character building.
Education thrives when school, family and community walk together. We actively engage parents, the Church and local leaders in every child's journey.
Education at Giulio Pastore is bigger than the classroom — it shapes character, faith, body and community spirit.
Football, athletics, debate, scouts, music and drama — our pupils discover their talents, build leadership and forge lifelong friendships beyond the textbook.
